The statue of “Zhuanxu Traveled around the Four Seas by Dragon is made of gray granite. It is 8.5 m high. Zhuanxu wears a feather crown and holds a jade battle-axe in hands, looking calm and at ease. He drove a huge dragon through wind and waves, flying in the sky and traveling around the four seas. This huge statue shows the achievements of Zhuanxu who reformed the primitive religion and promoted the social development and implies the development and rise of Puyang.

According to the Biography of Five Emperors in the Records of the Grand Historian, “the Yellow Emperor died and was buried in the Qiaoshan Mountain. Then Zhuanxu, the son of Changyi, the grandson of the Yellow Emperor, succeeded the throne.” At the age of 10, Zhuanxu helped Shaohao, the leader of Dongyi nationality to govern the country. At the age of 20, he succeeded the throne. Zhuanxu was foresighted and made great achievements in his life. He reformed the primitive religion, stipulated the distinction between men and women, established the patriarchal system, observed the astronomical phenomena, formulated the calendar, strictly prohibited consanguineous marriage, gained “one hundred medicines” from the Emperor of Five Directions to treat his people, etc. He became the ancestor of humanity and Chinese civilization who made great contributions to the formation and development of Chinese civilization after the Yellow Emperor and Emperor Yan.

According to Virtues of the Five Emperors in The Book of Rites by Dai De, “Zhuanxu traveled around the four seas by dragon. He reached Youling in the north, Jiaozhi in the south, Liusha in the west and Panmu in the east. All objects and creatures on earth, all deities, the sun and the moon all worshiped Zhuanxu with respect.”
